Tennessee To Host First-Ever F.I.S.H. Tournament

National Fishing In Schools Program and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency announce the first-ever NFSP F.I.S.H.* Tournament (*Fishing In Schools Happening).




In cooperation with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, the National Fishing in Schools Program will conduct its first-ever F.I.S.H.* Tournament in the United States next month. This competition-for-learning is a youth-focused, family-oriented outdoor activity that is open to the public.

Part 1: Fishing Tournament "On the Water" (all angling methods)

  • When: Saturday, May 11, 2013 
  • Where: Foggy Bottom Canoe Rental, Nashville http://www.foggybottomcanoe.com/ 
  • Time: Registration 7:00 – 8:30 AM (off the water by 11:30 AM) 
  • Open to: All students in Grades 6 – 12 (equipment available) 

Part 2: Skills Competition "In the Gym" (fly fishing only)

  • When: Saturday, May 11, 2013 
  • Where: Kingston Springs Middle School Gymnasium, Nashville 
  • Time: 1:00 – 3:00 PM Free BBQ lunch provided by the TWRA 

Open to: All students in Grades 6 – 12 (equipment available)

Trophies/Awards presented to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each division

Tennessee, in cooperation with the Fishing Education Foundation and support from the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation, continue to offer funding for schools interested in participation in "Fishing in Schools ". Please refer to these organizations’ websites for further information:

That's great to see the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency promoting fishing related activities for the kids.
