Destination Texas Fly Fishing Expo
The Texas Council of the International Federation of Fly Fishers has announced the Destination Texas Fly Fishing Expo will be held June 12-14 at New Braunfels Civic Center.
The news release reports that:
Destination Texas Fly Fishing Expo brings together the fishing community from across the state to share, learn and celebrate the art of fly-fishing, the release stated. Those new to fly-fishing or just curious will find a welcoming environment with plenty of hands on activities to introduce to them to the sport.
Anglers of all skill levels will find the knowledge and expertise to help them improve as well as visit and share stories.
“We are bringing in well-known Texas fly fishermen and women to teach and share their knowledge on fly tying, casting and fishing the waters of the great state of Texas,” said Russell Husted, Texas Council president. “There are so many places to fish and so many different species, we want to educate Texas anglers that you do not have to go to the mountains to fly-fish.”
Destination Texas Fly Fishing Expo is bringing in certified casting instructors to teach the art of fly-casting, with classes held throughout the day for every skill level including special women’s only classes, the release stated. With a large tying hall, fly tiers can sit down and tie with the best tiers in the state.
Texas Parks and Wildlife will be conducting youth workshops on many topics and there will also be youth fly tying and casting.
On June 13, there will be a showing of the Fly Fishing Film Tour. On June 14, the Texas Council will host a banquet followed by live and silent auctions. Proceeds to benefit fly-fishing education and waterway conservation in the state of Texas.
