Depending on what I'm tying, I go to my recycle pile first. Three cigar boxes worth. They're not all worn out flies, many are "what was I thinking ??" gobs on a hook.
Large, easy to strip saltwater hooks are often recycled multiple times until they rust or the point is worn down to a nub
