Default Re: Light/Magnifier

I use the same light/magnifier that Joni shows from Orvis. Thankfully, it can be purchased for as much as 25 bucks less than the Orvis number, exactly the same unit, though (basspro has it for 105). Its great, but as she notes, wicked heavy base to travel with. I wouldn't tie on a daily basis without it. Hell, I couldn't tie without it.

To that end (travel kit) I bought a Carson Magnifly, probably on fleabay( or amazon:
Amazon.com: Carson Optical Magni Fly Tying Magnifier: Sports & Outdoors Amazon.com: Carson Optical Magni Fly Tying Magnifier: Sports & Outdoors
. It has a lighted (LED) flexible arm, 2X (with a little 4X bifocal spot lens in the 2X) magnifier. works on either batteries or AC current, and seems to do the job in a dark old salmon camp. Significantly less expensive than the above mentioned unit as I recall, but definately not of its quality, either. Still, it gets the job done in camp.
