I've spent a LOT of time and $$$ matching rods to lines to me. That said, I can shoot the entire line on any of them (because of the matching work). I have never in my fishing life needed to do that. My first session out on the lawn (which is covered with snow) after rotator cuff surgery, I shot the 8wt into the backing. No biggie and no brag, its all about the match. Anyone can do it, equipped with the right stuff. (oh, now there's an opening line...or, as they would say in journalism school, I buried the lead).
