It's kind of interesting how really big fish of some species start to get odd looking. I used to fish a spot where real big Golden Shiners were pretty common. I have caught them over a foot long. They look like their heads stop growing when they around 8" or so. Kinda comical looking. I got an 18" Crappie a few years back that looked like it had lost a fight every day since it was 14" long.
