Thanks for all the responses and comments.

Since it looks like at least a few more weeks before the rivers around here get close to being in shape I think I'll make some knotted leaders (found an incredible resource of formulas online) and also try some furled. I've been wanting to try furling, too, but maybe I'll just one to start out.
