Re: casting weighted flies
A heavily weighted fly won't land as gently as a #16 Adams. Still, there are some things that will help. Slow down your cast a bit and make sure you straighten out your backcast. On your backcast send the line slightly up instead of being parallel to the water. Beware of giving an "extra push" on the forward cast as you deliver the line. Keep it smooth and it will land more gently for you.
