I assume these are fishing distances and in that case these distances include a leader and rod. So if you have a 9' leader and a 9' fly rod a 90' cast is only 72' of fly line. A full line cast including the leader and rod is a 108' cast. A cast of the full line and some backing would be in the 119' range. There are just a few competition casters that can cast 120' with a 5wt rod and a WF fly line and leader.

So maybe we should know what equipment is being used. For instance, a Spey rod can make a 80' cast with ease.

Frank,

I have taken a couple days to temper my response to your manipulation (adlib) of my poll posting. The following text includes some of my immediate thoughts but has been edited so as not to appear overly defensive or negative.

I'm not looking for a debate here but I take umbrage to your trifling with this poll that I posted Thursday 12 / 11 / 2008 by adding a fifth choice to suit your own liking. It is quite obvious to me that you consider yourself the preeminent source for opinion and information herein.

When responding to questions posted here I have done my level best to provide information that would help to answer those questions. I have endeavored to participate here in as non condescending of manner as possible. With no further preamble to my point I will make it.

* For someone, anyone, to interfere with a posting that I made is and was uncalled for! I made this post in an effort to encourage members who have been inactive lately to engage in a discussion. I believe it has worked and would have been fine without any help!

If you wish to create a poll regarding this topic I submit that you are far more experienced than I am at navigating this site and you should do so! What you should refrain from doing is interfering with a members posted poll simply because you can.

I thought the responsibility of a Moderator was to provide oversight of the text and attachments of posts to guard against inappropriate material content. I have often been miffed at the constant commentary and your inability to stand by allowing the threads to manifest on their own. If you were posting your opinions as a contributing member and not a "Super Moderator" I would be much less critical of your participation in almost every post. Moderators / Monitors should do just that, monitor and moderate, not feel compelled to comment in almost every instance.

I am deeply disappointed that you choose to wield your power as a Moderator in such a self ingratiating manner as to modify my primitive effort to be a participant here.
