Saddlebags off of tioga pass is 10500 or something like that, hardly counts though because it is crowded and doesn't feel remote. I think the highest backcountry experience I have had is hiking up to the upper Virginia lakes, they are around the same elevation but you really feel it.
Is this area in the Sierras? There is a Saddlebags Lake in the Winds, and they hold reported to hold nice brookies, but they are above 11000' and fairly remote (about a 12 mile hike in).
