Default high water

YES, VERY LIKELY SO. THAT WAS THE CASE THIS PAST WEEK.
THE WHITE RIVER OF COURSE RUNS VIA A CHAIN OF DAM SYSTEMS. THEY WILL AT TIMES HOLD WATER BACK FROM ONE STAGE TO THE OTHER, DEPENDING ON THE FLOOD POOLS IN THE LAKES.

HIGH WATER DOES NOT ELIMINATE FISHING ON THE RIVER. BUT YOU NEED A BOAT AND I WOULD SUGGEST YOU DO NOT GO FOR THAT OPTION UNLESS YOU ARE WELL VERSED IN DEALING WITH A FAST MOVING RIVER LIKE THIS. YOU CERTAINLY DO NOT WANT TO DO SO AS A SINGLE PERSON. YOU CANNOT FISH AND DEAL WITH THE BOAT AT THE SAME TIME, AND TO ANCHOR IS NOT A GOOD OPTION, UNLESS YOU KNOW THE RIVER BED LIKE THE BACK OF YOUR HAND. HIGH WATER CAN CAUSE BIG CHUNKS OF TIMBER TO WASH OFF SHORLINES AND CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS IF YOU DO NOT SEE THEM, AND THEY GET UNDER THE BOAT WHICH CAN TURN YOU OUT OF IT. WORSE THE DOWNSTRAM DRIFT RAMS YOU INTO STRUCTURE ALONG THE SHORE LINE.
