Default Re: What Keeps You From Going to Alaska to Fish?

Well between the cold, the mosquitos, and the bears it's got a few niggling problems but those aren't the big reason I haven't made it yet. I just haven't heard of much in the way of Snook, Redfish, Bones, Tarpon, Jacks, and then Bluegills, Perch and Crappie up there but on the good side I've heard about the Pike fishing! Trout and Salmon are fine but pale in comparison to the panfish and other species I so enjoy targeting.
On a more positive note, I've heard about Halibut but that's a difficult fly rod target from all I've been told. One of the big pluses and most likely the driving force in getting me up that way is my wife and her desire to do so.
