Re: common cents - the truth about line rating?
Without getting into a long drawn out post, I have come to believe that CCS only supplies part of the equasion. Things like rod weight, swing weight, and rsponsiveness imo all play an imortant role in how a line feels and loads a rod.
For the sake of argument lets say you have two 8wt rods both with the same CCS rating of 8.5. One of the rods is say 7oz, is very tip heavy, and has a very slow recovery. The other however weighs 2oz, has great swing weight, and is very responsive. I believe the exact line but on both rods would have a completely different feel. The lighter, more balanced, more responsive rod would be felt loading much easier than the slower more cumbersome rod. Both have exactly the same CCS of 8.5, but also feel very diiferent in hand.
