Default Re: what are your priorities when buying a rod?

Do you find fly rods generally too expensive?

Yes!! Just look at similar models made by compainies that produce spin, bait, and fly rods. Fly rodders are charged more!

Is location of the manufacturer important to you?

To a certain extent. Good forein rods always beat the lower end domestic stuff IMO.

Would you try a new brand of rod, and if so, what would compel you to try a new brand?

YES!! If I cast one and like it, or even hear it highly recommended, I will try a new comapny. Don't limit yourslef by being an exclusive "Sage" or "Orvis" guy, branch out and reap the rewards!

Would you purchase a rod online?

Yes, but only if the sseller is reputable and i see pictures if it is used.

What is your number one complaint about fly rods in your experience?

The expense, how fragile they are, not knowing how it will work for you area until you fish with it. pick one.
