Was up at the Cabin yesterday working on a few items and took the afternoon for myself before heading back to the valley. I headed to the wet bridge closest to the cabin, about 1.5 miles to wet the fly for a while. Streamer patterns work best on the East Verde so I broke out the old CH Crystal Woolly Bugger Black, size 6. Only took two casts before , “Fish On”, I stayed about 3 hours fished a stretch of about ¼ mile and got 30+ Trout. All were decent size rainbows around 11.5 – 14.0 inches. Only needed the one fly pattern today. By the way I was the only car in the parking lot.
Took some pictures:
If you have not had the opportunity to hit the East Verde this year yet, September is an excellent month to fish it for holdovers and should not have to worry about the summer crowds any longer.
