I believe that what you use for lines will determine what you like in rods / actions. I use long belly lines and that creates quite a difference in how I cast when compared to a fellow using short heads such as Skagit lines. I'm on the prowl for a Derek Brown 8/9 or 7/8 15' rod for light work.

It's always good to hear that a fellow has found what works for him.
