Not quite sure several of the 'facts' in that article are correct Paul. First in Oregon it was actually a ballot measure (won hands down). And I've not heard Washington is going for a similar Gill Net ban. I know it is under discussion on the Washington Side of the River. The commercial guys can still use Purse Sein type nets on the Oregon side. (That would be a trip to see them do that on a moving river.)

On the Oregon side we have no 'Bolt Decision' to contend with, Washington side another issue at this time. To what degree the Indian Tribes will buy in is open to debate. That said, the Indian Tribes that do fish the Columbia have a very different (positive) view of protecting the runs that the Puget Sound Tribes.
