That is what a Hardy rep at one of the fishing shows told me when I asked about moving production of the Lightweight series to Korea. They can get better hardened stainless for the drag pawls in Britain, but better barstock aluminum for the frames and spools in Korea. Labor cost was not as much a factor as material wastage -- the superior quality of Korean aluminum means fewer rejects and therefore lower overall cost.
