Re: How far can you cast?
So much depends upon the tools in use (as well as the level of wind...of course). With my saltwater set up, I expect to cast more than 80' into the wind and more than 100' in my back yard. In general, I fish fiberglass and will get at least 70' with most of my 8' 5-7 weights and over 60' with the 3-4 weights. More in the back yard. I know I can get perhaps another 10' with my graphite rods, but why worry about that when it doesn't usually mean more fish. When I think I need even more distance, I'll pull out my 10' 6 or 8 weight graphite.
