If you mean the BIIMX I have the 8, 9 and 10wt and have used them for misc saltwater species as well as bones, permit and barracuda. Like with any 10wt practice is key to casting a heavy rod well (well enough). It'll throw 80' easy in my hands and much further for someone with a little more skill. I've heard nothing but good about the new saltwater SX rods Winston has released. Word is that the SX tracks straighter than the MX, less side deflexion during the casting stroke. I haven't cast one to compare... if you're picking up the MX for a bargain price I don't think you can go wrong. Check out the Winston forum, there's more info on the MX and SX available there.
