Default Re: Rappahannock County Virginia ?

I've never fished the main stem of the Thornton which is what I assume you mean. I have fished the North Fork of the Thornton River many times within the Shenandoah National Park. There it is a typical mountain stream with good numbers of wild brook trout. The water levels are excellent right now and this time of year I use a #16 ant pattern almost exclusively. I would guess that the main stem of the Thornton wouldn't be holding wild brook trout but instead stocked rainbows but I don't know this for a fact. I have looked at the Thornton as it passes through the town of Sperryville and I did see a few rainbows. Sorry I can't be more help.
