The buggers will definitely catch fish. I'd wrap still further towards the bend when tying in the marabou, chenille and hackle. It also helps to add in a wire rib over the hackle so the whole thing doesn't come undone if the hackle stem breaks. Wind the wire from back to front, making sure to wrap the opposite direction the hackle went, so its intersecting the hackle stem.
Also, use those beadheads on the buggers too. Beadhead buggers work really well on any fish that will hit a marabou jig. (crappie, sunfish, etc.)
