This isn't a good idea to build an '8' and call it a '7' really has me scratching my head. Like what's the point? You want to over line your rod, just get a higher line weight. But if you have a 7wt rod and you buy a line that's "missed marked" from the get-go do you end up with a nine?

That's one of the things I like about the main line 2hand builders, the rods come with a 'grain range' and then its just a choice of how you want to load the rod. Smaller flies, the lower end ... chuck dead birds the upper end.
