You've been given some good advice already. There is great fishing all over the New England area. If your buddy is in N.Y. and you are in Mass., you might want to look hard at Vermont. The famous Battenkill River is in southern Vt. and flows into NY. Also, Otter Creek and its tributaries are on the western slopes of the Green Mtn's. On the east side, the White River and it's tributaries offer great fishing. Rutland Vt. would offer a central base for fishing all of these rivers over a period of 4 days. I would also try to get some up to date local info before you go. It has been a long time since I lived there, but I imagine the fishing is still great!!
