Default Re: Learning Drift Boat Tactics ??

Congratulations on the new toy!I've been using my 12' pontoon (white water type) with a fishing frame for about 15 years. I've rowed a buddie's drift boat about a dozen times and the difference is incredible. It just takes practice, beginning on mild water.Safety is key. Always keep an eye out downstream 50 yards minimum to identify obsticles to give you time to react to them. Be extremely careful when you drop anchor in fast moving water. If it grabs the bottom, it can easily pull the transom down filling the boat with water. Anyway there's much, much more to watch out for, especially if you hit the fast water. Here's a link to Clackacraft that gives a lot of great tips.http://www.clackacraft.com/rowingDriftBoat.htmHave fun!
