Justin, ALWAYS carry your rod. You never know.
Gorgeous, country, but high pressure nearer the road. Walk a little and it gets better.
On the 4th you may need to walk a little more. Wear camo and belly crawl/side arm cast, nearer the road, most folks just stroll up and cast.
A drive a little east from the main meadow gives access to a lake too, I've seen a few very large fish cruising the shore. Good luck!
