Default What is the difference, and how much does it matter?

Bass typically eat anything that has a realistic and shinny pattern. My question concerns emergers and streamers. Can these flies be used in still water? As long as it is flashy and mimics well, then why would it not catch bass, crappie, or perch/blue gill? I am aware that many bass bugs are designed for popping, and i am more concerned about flies that go under the water. What are the characteristics of emergers and streamers compared to bass bugs or similar style flies in relation to their effectiveness and presentation?
