I catch a LOT more bass since I've gone to almost entirely streamers for bass. I still use popping bgs when the fish are extremely shallow, but I catch a lot more and better bass on streamers. You don't have to get fancy; if there are mayflies hatching, you can use nymphs or small dark colored wooly buggers. If there are shad in your lake, use a white Wooly Bugger with a little crystal flash.
This morning I caught every thing from 6 inch bluegills to a 21 inch Channel Catfish on the same fly, a white Wooly Bugger on a 4 ft leader with a sink tip 6 weight line. Great fun.
