Default Alaskan Photo's From an Anglers Eye;

I had the opportunity to travel over 400 miles of the state in the past few days and took some pictures along the way. Some of the travel was done by boat, some by pickup truck, and some on foot.

These first two pictures were taken on the same day from approximately the same point on the SuSitna River they were shot about 8 hours apart. The mountain is called 'SuSitna' which translates to: Sleeping Lady, if you look at the profile you may see the lady at rest.

The 'Lady' in a storm, they say if you don't like the weather, stick around a while and it'll change. This day was a classic example of that.

I travel the river often but this view is not always out. The mountains in the distance are Mt. McKinley & Foraker. From the boat where this was shot using a 50mm Sigma f2.8 with polarizer, you are about 125 miles as the crow flies from the mountains. The lighting and clouds were what made me take this.

Wild Oats and salt water with the mountains as a backdrop made this a good look to me.

For those who have been viewing my pictures for a while you may have seen this volcano when it was active. Here are two shots taken from the same spot with only a change between landscape to portrait style, same lens.

Lichen's, salt water and mountains combined to give depth of field in this picture.

Such an amazing place, that must be! Thanks for sharing your work, Ard. My wife has gone up and worked a couple different summers, before we were married. She's a Montana girl and the only other place she would consider living is Alaska. She really wants to get back there for a visit.
