Freeport Bahamas in early May

I'll be on vacation here and am looking for some info. I'd like to go on a guided trip one day and go out on my own later. What are some good locations to look into for wadable flats? Any guides recommended for day trips?

Best guide and most reasonable price in Freeport is Bonefish Folley. Folley passed away several years ago but his son is just as good . THESE GUYS WILL PUT YOU ON FISH!
There are many wadeable flats on the West End just drive along the shore till you spot one pullover and fish.
If you want to up your variety and not just catch Bones the beaches in front of the Casino and Royal Atlantic Hotel are excellent! At high tide there is a trough that forms between the beach and bars and a short cast can bring King Mackeral,Barracuda, Jacks and even big Sharks!
One thing to be aware of on the West End flats is the fact that there are alot of Lemon Sharks and Bull Sharks. Most of the time you will be wading in no more than 2 ft of water but these predators will sense that bonefish fighting from way far away so be alert so you can break them off so they dont become shark food!
Dont expect big Bones but the amount of fish makes up for the size!Big Mutton Snappers are often caught along with the Bones!

Thanks for the response. I will look up this guide you've mentioned. Bonefish isn't a requirement for this trip; anything productive will do. I was planning to bring a 6 & 8wt. Will I be outmatched with these? What kind of leaders do you use for the toothy fish?

8wt will do fine. 12 lb fluoro carbon does fine for most and just add a trace of soft wire if there is a bunch of cudas and macks around.
