Mother moose Shot in Denali Park, 2 Calves Orphaned;

Posted 06-11-2013 at 10:21 PM by Hardyreels

I heard this on the radio and looked it up this evening; Moose shot near Denali National Park visitor center | Alaska Dispatch

Sorry, but I would never shoot a momma moose with 2 babies, period. I think the legalization of carrying guns in Denali is a mistake. It is a National Park, one of the only places...

And So It Ends Again..............

Posted 11-09-2013 at 03:39 PM by Hardyreels

Now I have 59 years to reflect upon and almost 54 of them I can remember in the outdoors.

My father started me out as a child trekking the mountains of a then very different North Central Pennsylvania. I was drawn to the tiny streams we would cross as we made our way back then...

I have received some messages from a member who was so moved by the videos in my last entry that he had to contact me and share his thoughts.

This entry is just a little more in an effort to explain how my life has been, what made me who I am and the kind of experiences that guided my path and always will.

In the late 1977 I discovered the music, the music and the words that would become the sound track for the next 12 years of my life. Prior to 77' I was entertained...

More About Streamer Fishing; Part 2

Posted 01-05-2014 at 10:55 PM by Hardyreels

This relates back to the time spent studying how your fly reacts to your line manipulations. Having this kind of knowledge is really important if you want to catch fish because you know how. We all catch fish by accident sometimes regardless of what we know. What I am telling you is simple and it is true. After you have finished reading this you will know that it made sense. Nothing looks more like food to a brown trout than a well tied feather wing streamer when properly handled. The practice exercise...

Wyoming Fly Fishing with Muzzy

Posted 07-05-2014 at 10:19 AM by mcnerney

Last year after reading about Muzzy's "Kung Fu Sabbatical 13" I contacted him and told him I would like to fish with him on his way through Wyoming and we ended up fishing three days together and had a great time. He ended up taking seven months off and touring the Rockies and western U.S. camping and fly fishing.........something we all have dreamed about at one time or another, but hard to pull off due to work/family responsibilities.
For those of you that haven't read Muzzy's...
