So what was it I was going to write about in this thread? Oh yeah, where & when. The where is almost always those places you and very few others bother to fish. These places are often like I described in the remembrance here, pretty deep and swift. The when can be as it was for me that June evening but I really liked fishing the crack of dawn for brown trout. Getting into position to fish downstream before it is light enough to see to cats usually ensures that you’ll have at least a couple hours...

Streamers, Where & When Part 2;

Posted 03-14-2015 at 02:47 PM by Hardyreels

So, where was I............

One of my best examples would come from history, my own times fishing on Pennsylvania’s famous Penn’s Creek. There is a very large pool, I mean long, wide and deep that exists about ¾ mile below where little Cherry Run dumps its freestone water into the big limestoner. This pool was a favored place for a friend of mine some 16 years ago and he always ask if I wanted to travel down there with him when the Green Drake’s were on the water. On my second years...

Fishing Streamers, Where & When Part 1;

Posted 03-14-2015 at 02:47 PM by Hardyreels

I can become easily bored with either methood and I worry when I start off writing something. Will it make sense? Like everything I write into the threads here this will be something that represents an opinion. It is my opinion but I reach this type of assessment through years of practice so I'll share...

Another short day;

When you catch and harvest / kill a king salmon there are a couple rules you must comply with right away to avoid problems. First thing before you forget is dry your hands and get out your license. Fill out the harvest information on the back and date it, then remove your fly from the leader and break down the rod. Breaking down the tackle isn't the law but it serves to remove all doubt whether you are done fishing. I think I mentioned this before but you may not fish in 'any' flowing water on the...

Tarpon Day 7= Final Day

Posted 06-26-2011 at 09:20 AM by Davo (Davo's Fly Angling Adventures)

Well it finally came, the last day of 2011 Tarpon Trip. And we got off to a much better start than Day 5! The guide was on time. We got the jump on the competition for the flat we like best. About 10 minutes after we arrive on our spot 2 other boat came slowly cruising up and then motor for other waters. The wind was up and there was a fair amount of cloud cover but this was predicted to clear up before noon. Things were looking good!!

Due to our early start and arrival on site we had...
