Well Opening Day Did Not Workout

Posted 04-05-2010 at 05:15 PM by Davo (Davo's Fly Angling Adventures)

On opening day the weather here in Jackson did not really cooperate. My floating partners bagged out for other activities that did not involve layered clothing.
The weather seems to be shaping up for this week. Not to mention I'm working hard at getting my fishing partners to man up a little. This fair weather only fishing can't be allowed to stand.
Also working on arranging a couple of back up float fishermen. Would not have thought it would be so hard to find fisherman that...

New Reel Arrived Today

Posted 03-31-2010 at 03:19 AM by Davo (Davo's Fly Angling Adventures)

Well my new reel came today, but then winter also decide to make a comeback as well. I'm very happy with the new reel. Bought the Orvis Batten Kill Large Arbor III with a Full sink class V 7wt line and 100yds gelspun backing. This set up is for my 7wt HLS 4pc streamer rod.

Last season my streamer set up was a T3 6wt 4pc with a sink tip line. The HLS sat in the closet. The T3 set up worked very well. But this I felt like a change so I decided to go full bore with my streamer set up....

It's Up To The Weather Gods Now!

Posted 03-25-2010 at 08:18 PM by Davo (Davo's Fly Angling Adventures)

Ordered the new reel for my streamer rod today. It should arrive by Tuesday. So I'm all set gear wise for the Opener on the 1st. So all that remains if for the weather Gods to smile upon us come Thursday.
Turned cloudy and snowy today for the start of the Snowmobile Hillclimb Chamionship. Hopefully it is just getting out of the way so the fishing can commence!!

South Fork Rainbows Wanted Dead!

Posted 03-24-2010 at 08:00 PM by Davo (Davo's Fly Angling Adventures)

I just read a very interesting story on the Teton Valley Lodge website. It seems that the Idaho Fish and Game Department has put a bounty on rainbow trout in the South Fork of the Snake. They have tagged some fish with spacial tags that are coded with a reward. The anglers that turn them in get a check.
This is an effort to stem the growth of the rainbow population and help the cutthroat population

Opening Day plans are set

Posted 03-22-2010 at 06:08 PM by Davo (Davo's Fly Angling Adventures)

Well the plan for opening day on Thursday the 1st of April are set. Unless the weather has other plans I'll be floating the Wilson to South Park stretch of the Snake River here in Jackson Hole. My good friend and guiding boss Greg Falk and another pal of ours Tony L. will hit the river and see what the early season fishing is like.
My new reel and line will be in by then. So it will most likely be a streamer day for me. Though I do expect to find some fish workin midges and maybe BWOs....
