The start of my season is rapdly approaching!

Posted 03-20-2010 at 02:56 PM by Davo (Davo's Fly Angling Adventures)

With April first just around the corner and our weather holding firm in the very fishable range, I find myself thumbing through catalogs thinking of must have gear additions.
One such addition is a new reel and line for my best streamer rod. I refer of course to my Orvis HLS 4pc 7wt. For the last 2 seasons this rod has remained in the closet while I made use of a couple of new rods added to my collection. As I am an avid streamer fisherman and this rod is excellent for chuckin big uglies...

Opening Day In Just 14 Days!!

Posted 03-18-2010 at 09:18 AM by Davo (Davo's Fly Angling Adventures)

Well the end of another long winter is in sight. Come April first the put ins will be plowed out and the floating season will be open.
If the weather stays like it has been the last couple of weeks there will be some great early season fishing before the runoff starts. We got less snow this winter than last, and with the warm weather what we do have is going pretty quick. I don't have to shovel out the boat this year as it is already melted clear.

Upper Snake Action Has Finally Picked Up!!

Posted 09-05-2009 at 08:49 AM by Davo (Davo's Fly Angling Adventures)

Well I managed to make it out on Friday the 4th. My guiding boss and I did a float on the Wilson to South Park stretch. Check out this article for more info on the various stretches of the upper Snake http://www.theflyfishingforum.com/fo...ead.php?t=3640

So far this year the fishing on the upper Snake has been some what slow. We have suffered from higher than normal water and cool rainy weather for most the season. As of late both the water levels and weather have settled...

Raring to go fishin now that the heel is healed!!

Posted 08-29-2009 at 12:51 PM by Davo (Davo's Fly Angling Adventures)

Well I'm actively looking for some floating partners for this coming Thursday and Friday. The following week I have guided trips booked. I would love to spend a couple days on the stretch I guide to locate the big dogs and see what the river is up to. Nothing like a little recon to make for good days for the clients.

Anyone near by that does not mind doing their fair share at the oars is welcome send me a PM. The stretch of river I'm looking to float is Wilson to South Park. A 12 mile...

Day cut short!!

Posted 08-23-2009 at 01:45 AM by Davo (Davo's Fly Angling Adventures)

Well I did make it up to the Gros Ventre on Friday. The weather was beautiful and the water was nice. Caught a few fish missed a few more. All in all I'm glad I made the short trek up there. But in retrospect I should have stayed home.
Working in the yard Friday morning I twisted my ankle just a bit but not too bad. However I did aggravate the injury several times wading around on the rocks of the Gros Ventre. I now find myself popping aspirin and icing my ankle in hopes of being in good enough...
