Don't let lack of success stop you!!

Good afternoon

I was unsuccessful in finding partners to go float one of the great western rivers. However I don't believe lack of success should derail ones plan. So in the morning I'm headed up do wade fish the Lower Gros Ventre. It has been quite awhile since I fished this awesome river.

It holds some very nice sized Cutthroat Trout. Below Slide Lake it is nice boulder strewn wading water. Full of small deep pockets that each hold nice fish.

Long 2 days are over. :(

Posted 08-17-2009 at 05:07 PM by Davo (Davo's Fly Angling Adventures)

Hey everybody

Well my two days of fishing with Fyshstykr and his gal Fishnchic are over. We had a great time in spite of some lack luster fishing.

Thursday we did a super long float on the South Fork. 25 miles to be exact. On the river at 9:00AM and got to the take out at around 8:00PM. We breezed through some of the lower stretch due to worries of making the take out before dark. Spent some extra time working riffles and side channels in the upper stretches.

12hrs to the two day fishing fest!!

Posted 08-12-2009 at 08:34 PM by Davo (Davo's Fly Angling Adventures)

A short 8 hr shift followed by a 1hr and 1/2 drive plus a quickie shuttle. Then it is the start off 2 days of fishing!! Woo Hoo!!

We are starting off with a 25 mile float on the South Fork of the Snake in Swan Valley, Idaho. The fishing reports have been great. Mayflies, hoppers, stones and streamers have all been producing. Add to that this stretch of river is known for big fish and lots of them.

Day two is on the upper Snake River in Jackson Hole. Great fishery, scenery...

2009 has been an off season so far. The Upper Snake River region has seen high water and colder than normal temps this spring and early summer. We had a great winter snow pack and above average rainfall resulting in highwater and a longer than normal runoff. Fishing did not really kickoff until mid July, and even then the fishing was very slow.

Now it is mid August. But things are looking up!! Water levels have come down and the temperatures are on the rise. The hatches have been getting...
