lead wire tip

Posted 11-14-2016 at 08:12 AM by flytire

in the process of a mini production run for some weighted minnows for a fly swap, i wanted to have all of the lead wire underbody lengths to be the same.

so i just wrap the wire directly from the spool onto the hook shank and trim the wire to the length i desired.

after trimming i just unwrapped the lead wire from the hook shank, straightened out the wire and made 2 marks on my tying table. then i cut all the wires to the same length.

Hairwing Tying Tip

Posted 09-26-2016 at 07:19 AM by flytire

a loop of thread alone around a bundle of hair is not enough to keep the hair from rolling to the far side of the hook. the hair must be held firmly while subsequent wraps of thread are used to hold the hair in place. without holding the hair, thread torque will roll it all over the place

It promoted all of the latest and greatest the fly fishing industry had to offer. It also showcased some of the best New England area fly tyers.
