Part 4 of A very Colorful Season;

New water!

I have not been to some of these places for 7 years and one hadn't been seen since 1989 so this was a good change of scenery and fisheries for me. From the trout and salmon battles of the home river I moved into waters where multiple species were to be caught on the same runs and riffles. The scenery was almost too good to be real also. Here's a look from where the car is left behind.

The Salmon Fly Tie Along that we had with Allan here on the forum paid off in a big way. I stayed the course with the thread and one of the last patterns we made was the Jock O' Dee an old salmon recipe from Scotland I think. I hadn't used it or any of the other flies from the thread until that day when I met Roger on the creek. That day I had tied on the J. O' Dee because it looked...

In the past week I've had a couple good days and a couple of those days that it just seemed you shouldn't have went fishing. The first one of 'Those days' was last Friday I think. I left in the AM around 9 and took the boat to go searching for trout. They are not plentiful in my favorite river but it seems they only come in one size, large. So with that as the catalyst off I went happy as could be.

I got about 11 miles into the 30 mile drive to the boat launch and realized...

A Fish Story

The story / remembrance you are about to read is based on actual events, no names were changed to protect the innocent

One early morning while fishing Spring Creek in Pennsylvania I was having what I would call reasonable results and had managed a few pretty nice brown trout. All of the fish caught were of good size, however my fishing partner of about 20 years at that time had caught nothing. I offered him a fly of my design 'The Answer' but he declined....

We Don't Get This Way Overnight;

You will have to read part two also to get the whole story. The site allows only so many words per page here and most of my stories don't make the cut

This story is taken from an old thread here on the forum. Threads have a tendency to get buried over the years and sometimes I dig one out and read it. I was always mesmerized by water, rivers, creeks, even a good hard runoff after a thunder storm provided a miniature river for me to explore. I graduated from throw lines to a spin...
