I just read a post from Pocono that brought this post I made back to my memory. Things have a way of getting buried in the thousands of threads on the board so I'm posting it here in case you naver ran across it. I'll find a picture of the rod and edit it in soon.

*On a Thursday evening in late June of 2010 I made a phone call to a man who runs a barge business on the rivers here in the MatSu Valley. I hadn't heard from him for awhile and with this being the busy season I figured...

My Life From River to River;

Every year trying to intercept the salmon as they travel up the rivers here becomes a sort of problem. Actually it's more of a fixation than a problem and it takes control of my mind and therefore my life every year. I'll try to say this so you all can relate to what has happened over the years.

I have lived in several places, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Virginia, Colorado and Alaska. The bulk of time was spent in Pennsylvania with just 2 years in Georgia, 2 in Virginia, and one in Colorado....

River to River Part 2;

On Wednesday the 13th of July I took a ride on my favorite river looking for some sockeye salmon. I knew there would be some chum in and maybe even a few late kings that might take a fly so with a beautiful sunny day coming about I was on the water at 10:00 AM. I knew where I was headed because the fish take the same route every year and seem to hold in the same spots. From where I launched I stayed on the shallow side of the river and traveled slow watching carefully the deeper channel on my left...

It Took Two Weeks But.....It's The Big Fish

The day I caught a really nice fish but had no camera with me there were two people who took pictures for me with cell phones. One of these is posted to a fishing story here on the blog, the other I never mentioned because I didn't receive the picture until I checked mail today The kind lady who took this had a digital SLR with her but had forgotten to bring the batteries however her phone was considerably more advanced than the gentleman who took the original shot for me. In her e-mail accompanying...

Catch & Release Salmon Fishing;

Posted 06-22-2011 at 05:04 PM by Hardyreels

If you've read other entries here you know we have an annual limit on harvest of king salmon. I'm at 3 and will hold out for either more big ones or a nice male fresh in. I went out very early today and used the same fly that has caught the fish so far this year. I'm very much in the 'if it ain't broke then don't fix it' club and things worked out well. Almost everything that is, I don't know how long it will take for me to learn to check all the settings on my camera before taking pictures. Way...
