Posted 05-03-2012 at 02:49 PM by Hardyreels

That was a question posted to the thread I ran in the Alaska forum threads about Pattern Productivity. When I tried to answer the question my post turned out to be a little long winded so I have copied it to here. I'm going to add a couple pictures here to help in making some of the things I said more colorful also.

The general or accepted belief is that once the fish enter into the fresh water and their final stages of sexual maturity they are no longer eating. Along with maturity

Posted 04-19-2012 at 02:29 PM by Hardyreels

Recently we have had some threads where members are querying streamer fishing. With all the people out there floating Indi Rigs and dropping nymphs from a big dry I still believe that to be a successful streamer fisherman is The Holy Grail of the fly fisher. I must include being a master on the dry fly to the Holy Grail club also. I think that those two styles of fly fishing; streamer & dry, are the two types of our sport that require the most dedication to master. Yes, almost anyone can catch...

Something I Posted to a Thread;

Posted 04-04-2012 at 08:40 PM by Hardyreels

You folks who read the threads and have done so for years might think that every now and then I write something worth while. Sometimes I think I write things that are worth while too

A fellow put up a post where he told of catching some really nice trout in a small river where he generally finds only small trout. He named the river and I posted to his thread telling him that although it sounded like a great day he should be wary of divuldging his sources for good fishing. We posted...

Sun Flares & The Northern Lights;

Posted 03-08-2012 at 04:51 PM by Hardyreels

Tonight may be the night that I photograph the Aurora. I have long wished for a good show and to have the time to go looking for a good vantage point for photos. Many times when I have seen displays I did not have a camera with. Other times I had camera but no tripod, I'll take both tonight / early tomorrow and try to get some shots.

It sounds easy but it is not. First you must be dedicated to doing it; second you need to face the fact that it will be around -10 up north where I'll...
