Ive decided to write in larger text to see how I like the look of it. It has been an interesting time for the past seven days here. I have fished six of the seven and was off for a day while I broke a camp and changed rivers. My first camp and river afforded beautiful scenery and good weather.

Another Day Another Chance

On another morning I found myself sitting in the boat at 4:10 AM watching another bottleneck that feed into another huge pool. The regulations prohibit fishing for salmon between 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM so I had elected to spend a couple hours looking for fish. It didn't take long before I spotted a wake and realized there were a bunch in the head of the pool. I cast for 2 hours and 55 minutes with the Skykomish that is tied to my line in this picture.

Breakup, that's what Alaskans call springtime. It is a time of melting snows, ice out on the rivers and lakes and of course mud. With the cost of fuel here just a tad below $4 / gallon I have been waiting for the roads to become clear of ice so that I could begin using my bike again. Today I had a trip to Anchorage that had to be made (53 miles one way) and the temperature was at 36* so away I went.
