We Don't Get This Way Overnight;

Posted 08-18-2011 at 12:42 PM by Hardyreels

This story is taken from an old thread here on the forum. Threads have a tendency to get buried over the years and sometimes I dig one out and read it. I was always mesmerized by water, rivers, creeks, even a good hard runoff after a thunder storm provided a miniature river for me to explore. I graduated from throw lines to a spin...

We Don't Get This Way Overnight; Part Two

As fast as I could I assembled the two piece rod and fastened one of those big fat creations of mine to the end of my leader. Quickly I made my way back down the path through the little meadow to the water.

Sure enough they were still there and God, they both had a fish on! I waded in downstream of the woman....

I just read a post from Pocono that brought this post I made back to my memory. Things have a way of getting buried in the thousands of threads on the board so I'm posting it here in case you naver ran across it. I'll find a picture of the rod and edit it in soon.

River to River Part 2;

Updated 07-25-2011 at 05:59 AM by Hardyreels

On Wednesday the 13th of July I took a ride on my favorite river looking for some sockeye salmon. I knew there would be some chum in and maybe even a few late kings that might take a fly so with a beautiful sunny day coming about I was on the water at 10:00 AM. I knew where I was headed because the fish take the same route every year and seem to hold in the same spots. From where I launched I stayed on the shallow side of the river and traveled slow watching carefully the deeper channel on my left...
