A Quick Note To Readers;

If you are not using the RSS Feed when viewing blogs here you should give it a try.

It's very easy, look to the sidebar menu at the left of the screen and click 'View RSS Feed', that's it

The feed will only cover the current page so to travel backward through the stories and photos here you need to close the RSS and move to page 2 (for instance) then click the RSS and you're good to go. It is amazing how much better things look on a steady page feed

Short Runs & Season Closures Don't Mean The End, Just The Beginning of Something Else

That's the situation facing many people here in my part of Alaska. I imagine that many gear fishermen are out there heaving lures into the high and turbid waters and some are probably hauling out some Sockeye to boot. Me, I'm a fly fisherman who uses quiet little salmon flies to catch his fish and these conditions are not conducive to my having great success. Here are some of the pictures I took in the town, it was once a thriving town fueled by the huge copper deposits along the river but now is pretty desolate some 100 years later.

Page 4 of Short Runs - The Denali

If you're going to take a trip here you might as well make a go of it. We left Chitna and passed Glenallen to turn left at Paxton onto the denali Highway. I'll just post up some pictures and caption them.
