While John Page was here we took a trip to the cabin, the trip out was fraught with difficulty but we made it safely. Some mechanical problems delayed our departing at a reasonable time and thick fog and the coming of darkness made the last 40 miles of the boat trip a little tense.

When we arrived at Hewitt Lake we found the water high, I don't mean a little high I mean higher than its ever been while I was actually there. My 4 Wheeler access road to the shoreline was under water and...

Cleaning The Logs and Chinking Cracks.

Posted 06-19-2016 at 04:22 PM by Hardyreels

It's been almost 3 weeks since I hauled my pressure washer out to the cabin for a cleaning of the building. Things get dirty even though it's way off the road system. There is dirt and mildew because of the lake and rains so every 4 years I clean and maintain the exterior.

Things were going normal until the water pump on the pressure washer seized up, done, need new......... So I came home, ordered a new pump which arrived but is not the correct pump but that's another story huh?...

Wind is a big deal out there and it can easily hit 40 mph coming down the lake from the Northwest. This means waves and pretty big ones too, in the past years the waves have torn to dock lose and drove it onto shore. So I'm trying to get things anchored better this time around.

I fixed 2 1/2" pipes to the walkway with 5/8" bolts and then pounded 6 foot 1 1/2 inch steel pipes down into the lake bed hoping to both anchor and to provide a means to accommodate rises and falls...

Someone Ask About The Roll Cast;

Posted 04-03-2016 at 06:14 PM by Hardyreels

I jumped right in and started writing, wouldn't you know it, the original poster never came back to say any more. I shouldn't let that bother me and in reality it does not but I hate to write something that seems meaningful only to see it lost / buried in the inactive threads here.

Sooner or later someone else will ask the same question so I'll stash this here where I can find it

A good roll cast is executed in the same way that a good Spey cast is done but without...
