This will provide some more insight to life in Alaska I think. If you wanna live here you better be ready to do more than fish. As a matter of fact you have be able to handle about anything or........Option #2, you better have a lot of money and I do mean a lot. The problem I am about to disclose has been on the radar here since January 27 and today is March 16'th.

This is going to be an interesting day no doubt about it and I will take a few pictures and put them into this article...

It's not always a bear that you must be thinking of, if you were to take a fall while climbing through the Bush or scampering the rocks along a creek nobody knows where you are and that you're in trouble. I also spend a lot of time on rivers that see a lot of boats and fishermen and that's what this is about....

A Man & His Dog in Alaska;

It seems that Iíve had a dog since I was 13 years old and Iíve had a few. My first was a mixed hound cross who had little to offer as personality but to be fair when I was 13 Ė 15 years old neither did I. My Dad had passed away just after my thirteenth so I guess the dog was an attempt to fill the void. Poor fella ended up hit and killed by a car while on one of his spawning runs. I was heartbroken but did not replace him until I was 18. Thatís when...

It was daylight at 7:00 Am this morning and the sun actually rose above the eastern horizon at around 8:00 the day is 5 minuets and 43 seconds longer than yesterday. This is a good time of year here. However there always seems to be a fly in the ointment and the fly for the past three days is once again wind! The months since last October until today have been filled with extreme winds and some clocked to 90 mph. Even though the sun is shining bright and warm the wind is keeping me indoors. The...

The wind has died down finally! We live at the bottom end of the Matanuska Valley and very close to the Knik Arm of Cook Inlet so sometimes we get a little wind. The normal is a late fall wind storm and an early spring blow. This season has been harsh to say the least. We had our first wind in September and another by mid October. These were followed by a bad one right behind Thanksgiving that lasted 5 days and now we just finished a 4 day blow this morning. When I say 'blow' i am talking about...
