Ducky Finally Gets A new Home;

Posted 10-02-2016 at 03:11 PM by Hardyreels

Way back in the 1980's the fellow who owned Marsh Hill Grocery & General Store gave me a Wood Duck. His intention was that I would use the flank feathers for tying flies. When I unwrapped the duck I was so taken by the beauty of it that I ask a friend who was a taxidermist to preserve it for me and he did. That duck hung in my home in Cogan Station PA. - Newnan GA. - Portsmouth VA. - back to PA and through 5 more homes there - on to Colorado Springs and finally this past spring I went back to...

Sometimes I don't know where to start a story and this time I'll just pick a spot and hope it all ties together.

It's been about 4 or 5 weeks now but I was on a moose hunt for a week. I was the guy who put up the came and picked its location and we were on a river. It seems that you're always on a river here and this was just another camp on another island. It was on the next to the last day that we had returned to camp for a late lunch and had no clue where we would spend the evening....

While John Page was here we took a trip to the cabin, the trip out was fraught with difficulty but we made it safely. Some mechanical problems delayed our departing at a reasonable time and thick fog and the coming of darkness made the last 40 miles of the boat trip a little tense.

When we arrived at Hewitt Lake we found the water high, I don't mean a little high I mean higher than its ever been while I was actually there. My 4 Wheeler access road to the shoreline was under water...

Cleaning The Logs and Chinking Cracks.

Posted 06-19-2016 at 05:22 PM by Hardyreels

It's been almost 3 weeks since I hauled my pressure washer out to the cabin for a cleaning of the building. Things get dirty even though it's way off the road system. There is dirt and mildew because of the lake and rains so every 4 years I clean and maintain the exterior.

Things were going normal until the water pump on the pressure washer seized up, done, need new......... So I came home, ordered a new pump which arrived but is not the correct pump but that's another story huh?...

It never seems to be finished does it? There are a lot of king salmon in right now but there are also a lot of people out trying to catch them. That is my excuse for not fishing for them myself, that and the fact I've caught my share and set priorities properly sometimes.

This past winter I hauled out lumber to build a good extension for my boat dock and last week I set about building it. I went out on Friday June 10th I think it was and came home last night so a seven day stay....
