Fishing a Private Wyoming Ranch: The Highs and Lows!

Posted 07-22-2014 at 08:56 AM by mcnerney

I got invited out to fish on a private ranch this afternoon. When I got there the owner told me that virtually no one fishes this small stream, I'm thinking I have died and gone to heaven.......can it get any better than this!
I rig up and head toward the small stream, no bigger than 10 ft across. The owner had told me they have some big trout in that stream so I opt to use my Hardy Zenith 5 wt. I tie on a size 18 parachute adams and within 5 minutes of casting I'm into a really nice Rainbow....

Fishing Wyoming

Posted 07-22-2014 at 08:51 AM by mcnerney

Yesterday I did a float on the New Fork river, it was pretty slow, landed one nice Rainbow and a big Whitefish, lots of wildlife along the river made for some interesting moments. When I finally reached the takeout I saw nine rigs there in the parking lot, wow, that is a lot of traffic on such a small river. Today I did a float on the Green, totally different day, landed several nice Rainbows and lost 6 others, quit around 1:30 pm when the wind came up, life is good! Ran into Muzzy at the campground,...

Thank You Letter from the Mid-Atlantic CFR Program

Posted 05-30-2014 at 10:18 AM by mcnerney

We received a very nice thank you letter from Casey Peltion who runs the Casting for Recovery program in Virginia. A big thanks goes to Bob Gartner who runs the Ft Belvoir Project Healing Waters program who helped with getting our flies to the Virginia CFR program. Kudos to all of you that sent in flies and fly boxes. Fred, your beautiful C&F fly box went to them for a door prize and Jerry a couple of your fly boxes of 80 dry flies made it to them as well. We also sent them a ton of flies...
