The Longest Day

I knew the window would be open longer than any other day this year, so I planned for an epic day of dry fly fishing. Loaded the gear the night before, got up early with coffee and the cooler and took off. Arrived at the trailhead and proceeded to rig up and... realized I had used my 4wt reel on a stillwater and thus had a intermediate full sinker spool on it! Well, so much for the dry fly action. Fortunately I'm not a purist and had nymphs and indies with me so I settled on an epic day of short line indie nymphing. Found some of these along the way.

Then these...

Found this can but could not pack it out.

Got back to the car at 9:30 (Dark) and home by 11:30. milt.

It actually worked better than I thought it would, just used a hank of yarn for an indie. Here's some more if it works.

	The can would have made a load on the trip back, at least you had a reel and line. My old fishing bud Steve once forgot his reel, that made it real tough. Love the Tiger Lillie's

Wow, you have been diggin' in the archives Ard! That can is a 55 gallon drum wedged in a place so remote and so irretrievable that I doubt any other human has seen it in 30 years. The lilies are Humboldts, endemic in CA, and considered rare and slightly endangered. http://www.theflyfishingforum.com/fo...0-0770-001.jpg The drum is just a ways down canyon from this spot. I'll be visiting there soon as there will be no runoff to speak of this season. milt
