A Fish I Never Caught

Posted 06-24-2014 at 08:23 AM by mridenour

Sunday, my fishing buddy and I headed south to fish some waters known to have my favorite species of fish, the brown trout. I was excited, especially since I hadn't caught one this year.

As we arrived a big storm with tons of thunder and flashes of lightning served up a lot of heavy rain. We decided we might take an afternoon nap to pass the time until the rains let up. It was a good plan but I never even leaned back in the seat. Sitting there looking at the water stimulated...

Trout Fishing in Heaven

Posted 06-17-2014 at 09:14 AM by mridenour

A few weeks ago, I was at church and the pastor began to talk about what the bible says about heaven. For all of you that don't go for the whole church and God kind of thing, don't worry. I'm not here to proselytize. I'm a religious/spiritual guy and when I reflect on life and write about what is going on in my kind of off-center brain, a little background helps others understand what may sometimes make no sense at all.

Posted 05-21-2014 at 03:03 PM by mridenour

Sunday morning I rose early and knowing that I was going fishing in the secret lake, well, I skipped going to church. I had to get the mowing done. It takes a while to mow three acres, especially when using the not so reliable Frankenmower. My mower is mostly made up of cast-offs found on Craigslist and junkpiles. I bought a new one a couple of times but have found that my hilly terrain is better suited for an overpowered monstrosity with knobby ATV tires on the rear.

So I ran...

A Cold Front, A Warm Heart

Posted 05-14-2014 at 12:06 PM by mridenour

Well, a cold front has stormed through the area and yesterday the temps were only in the 50's. It was really humid though and the skies were overcast and gloomy. The weekend was over and I went back to work on Monday to get some rest. There wasn't a lot of resting done there but at least I wasn't driving all over three or four counties.

Tuesday was a long day and I didn't think I would have time to fish before my regular Tuesday evening appointment since I was bringing some freshly...
