Wyoming Grayling, August 2013

Posted 05-28-2014 at 05:46 PM by mcnerney

Last summer I went out after Wyoming Grayling only to fail, I had three strikes, missed them all, then got ran off the lake by a thunderstorm. Today I went out for a little revenge, the valley is full of smoke, not sure if it is the Upper Green fire or something blowing in from the west, but at any rate it is the first day this summer we have had smoke filled skies. I made it out to the lake early and found that it was way down from last year and the weed growth on the south side made it almost...

Chasing Bonneville Cutthroats, August 2013

Posted 05-28-2014 at 05:44 PM by mcnerney

I just returned from a two day trip down into the tri-basin area of Wyoming. My goal was to land a Bonneville Cutthroat as I'm trying to complete the Wyoming Cut Slam program where you need to land and document each of the four species of cutties that reside in Wyomng (Yellowstone, Colorado, Snake River and Bonneville).

I already have a few Snake River cutthroats and I think Yellowstone cutties from fishing in the Wind River Range last summer,...

Little Half Moon Lake, August 2013

Posted 05-28-2014 at 05:42 PM by mcnerney

Yesterday afternoon I went exploring, wanted to see what Little Half Moon Lake looked like, so I loaded up the gear, the Pontoon boat and the dog and headed out. What I found was an absolutely beautiful setting, with no one there, although there are a few camping sites along the edge of the lake, seemed kind of strange seeing how nice the wx has been. The fishing was very good, but all were small fish, the first two were rainbows after that I had no idea what I was catching, I wasn't counting...

Bighorn River Float Trip, July 2013

Posted 05-28-2014 at 05:40 PM by mcnerney

Mike (mridenour) and his good buddy Rick are currently doing a nine day fishing trip in the Cody, WY area, so it was a good opportunity to get together for a float on the Bighorn. We meet up yesterday at the boat ramp and had a great time (finally getting a chance to meet Mike in person) and an epic day of fishing even though the hoppers weren't out as we had hoped for, maybe we were a little early or they just aren't out in force this year. Here are a few photos from the trip.

Wyoming Float Trip, July 2013

Posted 05-28-2014 at 05:37 PM by mcnerney

Last fall we attended a local fund raiser for animals and the GF bid and won a float trip for two, the trip being donated by a long time fly fishing guide friend of hers. She didn't really want to go (she would rather go trail riding in the local mountains). We have a friend in town from Florida that wanted to go fishing so it was a great opportunity to get him out on the water. We have been getting some much needed moisture in the form of afternoon thunderstorms, the forecast was calling for...
