Fly Fishing Yellowstone National Park (Part 1)

Posted 08-14-2014 at 06:58 PM by mcnerney

I traveled to Yellowstone NP to fish the NE section of the park, the first day on my own and the second day with forum member liveonthefly14 and then the next day I was supposed to meet up with forum member vtownmike, but we didn't get our communication fixed before the trip and once I got there I really had a rough time getting the cell to pick up any kind of reception (lesson learned, have your plan set with a meet time/place before you leave). About 30 casts in with nary a looker, I started feeling antsy. I was so sure and set on my plan of attack that I was hesitant to change out my setup. But a new resolution...

Smallmouth Bass Fishing with Two Six Year Olds!

Posted 08-07-2014 at 10:14 AM by mcnerney

Earlier in the week the wife and I traveled down to Colorado to visit with my son and his kids, do a little fishing and take everyone out to see a Rockies baseball game. My wife isn't into fishing, but she is from Chicago and loved watching the Cubs play the Rockies, especially when the Rockies threw away a two run lead when they ran into pitching problems and walked six straight. Argh! Earlier in the day we took the kids out to a friends place that is just loaded with Smallmouth Bass and a few...
