Hello New World

Posted 11-17-2013 at 04:54 PM by troutfodder

Hello I'm new to this forum, really new.
I'm primarily a fly-fisherman for bass, but when i have the chance, I go for trophy trout in the beautiful streams of Western North Carolina.

Two weeks ago, I went on a trip to Stone Mountain Park. Man, were the trout biting on the Delayed Harvest Stream. The fly that was the most effective was a #4 nymph and a small cahill above it. The effects were profound!. In total 11 brookies all over 8 in. and 2 rainbow and brookie hybrids!

Posted 11-09-2013 at 03:39 PM by Hardyreels

Once again November eighth has come and gone. Now I have 59 years to reflect upon and almost 54 of them I can remember in the outdoors.

My father started me out as a child trekking the mountains of a then very different North Central Pennsylvania. I was drawn to the tiny streams we would cross as we made our way back then...

Posted 10-28-2013 at 01:07 PM by mikel

Ever changing, yet ever the same, this water called to him as no other. With a sigh and a little smile pulled his old 5 weight friend from a battered tube and rigged up. Fifty yards downstream, at the top of Sal's hole, a sickly salmon rolled.

Sal was long dead, but 35 years ago he had taken a tumble there, filling his waders with...

Hello all.
Well as you can see we got a little snow here in the Dacks this week. Temps have been dropping and are in the 30s during the day and high 20s at night. Fall is a great time to be here in the adirondacks, there are lots of festivals going on like the octoberfest, and lets not forget all the fright fests and pumpkin smashing.
