Fishing The Hopper

I just can’t stay away from those gills. I spent the better part of the afternoon, on Walker Lake today landing bluegills and spots. I was fishing right before a front, and with the lake stable it made for a great day. The hopper was the fly of the day for me helping me land 9 nice gills in depths of 10 to 12 ft. I fished most all afternoon with my 3 Wt. rod and had some awesome hits. The only time you can catch the big bluegills on this lake with the fly...

Tarpon Here I Come!!!

Posted 06-18-2010 at 11:30 AM by Davo (Davo's Fly Angling Adventures)

Well there is no fishing here at home, just waiting for runoff to end. So I'm hitting the road. In less than 24hrs I'm headed down to Key Largo for some Tarpon fishing.

Talked with Dad last night and he says I could not have timed my trip better. The Palolo Worm hatch has just finished and there are plenty of Tarpon in the area. Weather predictions could not be much better either.

We have our guide booked for Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. At least one of these days...

6/03/2010 South Fork

Posted 06-04-2010 at 06:58 AM by Davo (Davo's Fly Angling Adventures)

Well, floated yesterday 6/03/2010 on the Byington to Lorenzo stretch. The weather was perfect for a hot day of streamer fishing. Overcast with chance of rain showers all day. We put in about 10:00AM. Greg caught several browns and had many more followers.

We switched out on the oars...

South Fork here we come!!!

Posted 06-02-2010 at 09:26 PM by Davo (Davo's Fly Angling Adventures)

Well Greg and I are headed over to the South Fork tomorrow. Supposed to be an overcast day with chance of showers so I'm expecting some great streamer fishing. Maybe even a nice linker to rival Mrs. Fysh' big pig! The latest reports have the lower river fishing well since the Flush. Let everyone know how it went tomorrow night.

Once again it's time to go Fishin!!

Posted 05-30-2010 at 07:51 PM by Davo (Davo's Fly Angling Adventures)

The flush is over on the South Fork and enough room was created in Palisades Res to make room for the coming runoff. So water levels on the South Fork should remain steady other than irrigation demands. Not to mention that the water clarity should be improving nice and steady. So it is time to get in some floats on the other side of the pass.
Here in Jackson our runoff should get started for real finally. So there will not be any fishing here in town for a few weeks. All depends on the...
